Hairline advancement
Hairline advancement, also known as forehead reduction surgery, is a cosmetic procedure designed to lower the hairline and reduce the height of the forehead. This surgery is ideal for individuals who feel self-conscious about a high hairline or large forehead. By repositioning the hairline, hairline advancement can create a more balanced and proportionate facial appearance. The procedure involves removing a section of the forehead skin and carefully advancing the hairline to the desired position, resulting in a natural and aesthetically pleasing look.

The process
01. Personalized Consultation
The hairline advancement process begins with a comprehensive consultation to understand your goals and evaluate your hairline and forehead structure. Our surgeons discuss the procedure and develop a personalized plan to achieve a natural and balanced appearance.
02. Preparing for Surgery
Preparation for your hairline reduction includes detailed pre-surgery instructions, dietary guidelines, and any necessary medications. Our team ensures you are fully prepared for a safe and successful surgical experience.
03. The Hairline Advancement/Reduction Procedure
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. A zig-zag incision is made along the hairline, known as a pretrichial incision, which camouflages the scar within the hairline. The incision preserves hair follicles while shortening the forehead. Dr. Song then skillfully advances the hairline, adjusting it to achieve a natural and balanced outcome.
04. Recovery & Aftercare
After a hairline advancement surgery, sutures are removed during the one-week follow-up visit. Patients are instructed to wear a compressive head wrap dressing for the first 48 hours. Swelling along the forehead and scalp is common and typically resolves within a few weeks. Numbness of the scalp is also common and will gradually return to normal sensation.
