The versatility of dermal fillers

Dermal fillers offer a versatile solution for enhancing facial features and rejuvenating the overall appearance. At True Aesthetics, our range of dermal filler treatments targets various areas of the face to address specific concerns and achieve natural-looking results. Whether it’s adding volume to the cheeks for a more youthful contour, augmenting lips for fuller definition, or smoothing out nasolabial folds and marionette lines, our skilled practitioners tailor each treatment to enhance facial symmetry and harmony. Dermal fillers can also rejuvenate the under-eye area by reducing hollows and dark circles, and define the chin and jawline for a sculpted profile. These treatments provide immediate, noticeable results with minimal downtime, making them a preferred choice for individuals seeking non-surgical facial enhancement. The effects typically last from six months to two years, depending on the type of filler used and the area treated, with maintenance treatments ensuring sustained improvements in facial appearance over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my treatment?
Avoid blood thinners such as alcohol, aspirin products, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, high dose garlic, ginseng, gingko and/or other herbal supplements up to three days before treatment. Plan accordingly as you’ll need to avoid strenuous physical exercise, hot tub, saunas, facials, alcohol, aspirin products and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 24 hours after treatment. If you are planning for lip filler and have a history of cold sores – please contact us to arrange prophylactic therapy prior to your treatment.
Prior to your treatment, you will have a detailed medical and facial assessment that helps your provider create a plan that works for your aesthetic goals. Hyaluronic acid fillers are injectable gels that are used to restore volume to the skin, correct facial lines, wrinkles and folds as well as to alter facial contours. Fillers are temporary and can last anywhere from 6 to 24 months depending on the skin type, type of filler used, the location injected and the number of syringes used. It is important to have a good relationship with your provider – dermal filler can last long, however as our facial volume and soft tissues change, our perception of our filler changes. If dermal filler is not deemed to be beneficial to you, your injector may discuss other options.
Most clients describe dermal filler as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. For lip filler, we use a strong topical numbing cream that is left on for about 30 minutes prior to injecting. For other areas of the face, the dermal filler we use also contains lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during the treatment. You may anticipate mild discomfort for short periods of yoru treatment, but dermal filler is overall well tolerated.
Recovery time is dependent on area treated, volume injected, and treatment technique, as well as individual factors. For lip filler – anticipate swelling! Our lips love to swell. You may have swelling, possible bruising and tenderness for up to 72 hours. Plan accordingly and adhere to your aftercare instructions. For facial filler – you may or may not experience some mild swelling, tenderness, asymmetries or bruising. Filler takes 3 weeks to fully integrate – if your filler looks prominent on the day of, be patient – your best results come with time as the filler softens and integrates into your tissues.
Initial results are visible immediately, but best results occur in 3 weeks, as the filler softens, integrates, and pulls water molecules to achieve  a natural, balanced results.

For lips – your initial results will be swollen.  Wait a minimum of 72h for any swelling and bruising to resolve before you see your final result.
In the first week after injections the filler is malleable. Avoid pressure to the treated area and sleep on your back if possible. Following your treatment, keep your injection sites clean. Avoid strenuous physical exercise, hot tubs, saunas, facials, alcohol, aspirin products and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 24 hours after treatment. Some individuals will experience a mild headache following filler or tenderness to the sites; drink plenty of water and take Tylenol as needed. Plan for a follow-up appointment at the 2 week mark for your injector to evaluate your treatment and results.
You can approach filler however you desire, there is no recommended amount. As stated, dermal filler can last 6-24 months depending on the type and individual factors. We pride ourselves on establishing a good rapport with our clients, to ensure that we can deliver to their goals, expectations, comfort and budget.
